Elafonissi is a small isle on the southwest of Crete, about 3 sq. km. It is connected to the mainland by shallow reef (max. depth 1 meter) that allows crossing when the sea is calm. The temperature here is always a bit higher, than on the other beaches.
Walking on the beach of Elafonissi you can find various plants and bushes, small frog, endemic to the island and various lizards considered a protected species. Another unique feature of this place is the color of the sand which is pink.
According to studies conducted by the Greek Ministry of the Environment the island serves as a breeding spot for the caretta-caretta sea turtle. You will also visit cave-church of Agia Sofia, climb the legendary steps of Chrisoskalitis and see the miracle-working icon. After the visit of the church, visit the beach to relax and sunbathe.

Argiroupoli – Kournas – Lappa
We start our excursion visiting first the fish village of Georgioupolis known for the small church that sits on the edge of a rock by the sea.
Then we’ll move towards Kournas Lake, one of the two lakes in Crete. It is surrounded by the famous “White Mountains” and its southeast side is covered with olive trees.
You will enjoy a nice swimming in the lake Korna or a cycling boat trip.
We carry on towards a small stroll to the ancient Lappa to see all the antiquities and then to the famous springs of Argyroupolis. This is a village that combines rare natural beauty and history. The small waterfalls, wooden watermills and the thick plantation give to the village a unique style. We will have enough time for a walk and lunch. After lunch we head towards your hotel.

West Wild Crete

Knossos – Archeological Museum
“Knossos Palace” is the one of the most exciting and ancient places to visit in Crete. This is the evidence of one of the most developed civilizations – Minoan civilization, dated back 5th millennium BC.
The palace was destroyed about 1350 BC and extensive reconstructions were carried out by the archeologist, Sir Arthur Evans.
The area of the palace covers 20.000 sq.m. You will be impressed by the variety of building materials and wall-paintings decorating the rooms and passages, and amazed by the advanced level of technology, which is demonstrated by architectural and structural features, such as drainage complex and water supply system.
After “Knossos Palace” we’ll continue our tour and our next stop will be at the center of the capital of Crete in Heraklion, where you’ll visit the Archaeological Museum which is the second museum in Greece after Athens Archaeological Museum by the concernment. The collection of the Minoan antiquities in the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion is the largest in the world and the museum is considered the main Museum of Minoan civilization.
